Is Solitude where you meet yourself?

Image
Asslam o Alaikum,  My honourable Sir,  As scholars advise, " Solitude is where you meet yourself"  But whenever I sit to reflect on my own presence, rather than meeting myself, I feel I lose myself. Everything around me including myself becomes question mark and 'I' itself feels strange. I feel void.  Sir, what's that...? Am I missing something in what scholars meant or is this beyond my understanding?  I believe your understanding more than my confusion 😊 Reply to the question: Wa Alaikum Assalam What you’re describing actually makes a lot of mixed sense—and it’s more common (and more meaningful) than it feels in the moment. When scholars say “Solitude is where you meet yourself,” they’re not talking about an immediate, peaceful, clear “meeting.” That line is often quoted in the spirit of thinkers like Rumi or Al-Ghazali—but the first stage of solitude is usually not clarity. it shows confusion. Q.5 (A) Explain with reference to context. (5)
    Barefoot, through the bazaar
And with the same undulant grace
As the cloth blown back from her face
She glides with a stone jar,
    High on her head
And not a ripple in her tread

Reference:
This stanza has been taken from, "A Sindhi Woman," written by Jan Stallworthy.

Context:
The poem reflects the concern of the poet that only work brings honour and dignity to man's life. Work keeps man active, strong and agile. The poet praises the working woman who has practically turned her work into wonderful art. On the other hand, an idle man will soon decay due to his sluggish nature.

Explanation:
The poet in the spontaneous overflow of his powerful feelings describes a life of a Sindhi woman. She is bare footed and has no ripple in her walk. She walks as she is gliding in the air. The poet is very much impressed by her graceful walk. Though she has a heavy jar on her head, there is no ripple in her graceful walk. She walks straight and performs her duties honestly. The language of the poem is simple but the meanings it conveys are profound and thought-provoking. Both the implicit and explicit meanings incited the reader to make his own skilful consideration and imagination.
