Is Solitude where you meet yourself?

Asslam o Alaikum,  My honourable Sir,  As scholars advise, " Solitude is where you meet yourself"  But whenever I sit to reflect on my own presence, rather than meeting myself, I feel I lose myself. Everything around me including myself becomes question mark and 'I' itself feels strange. I feel void.  Sir, what's that...? How to do reading in an effective way?   Reading is an art and it needs the skill to get the maximum benefits from reading. Different readers have their own set of habits for reading books as there are two types of eating: one is to eat for nourishment and the other one is to get pleasure. My approach to reading is quite different. I read it to improve my intellect and vocabulary . Eating for nourishment is generally done hastily without much thought, but eating for pleasure can often take hours. It is a very painstaking job.  I see reading books in a similar light. Most people read books for the breadth of knowledge, while a smaller group of people read them for depth. They see the writer's point of view from a different angle.
